The heat is serious lately people. I feel like I'm always stepping into the steam room. I choose this look because it was actually pretty cool against the summer sun. I love a strong pop of color and red is certainly strong. The trick to keeping it from overwhelming you is neutral accessories and a simple top. The print on mine helps balance things out and tie in the red. I could totally see this for a picnic, barbecue, or patriotic event. It looks stylish without being too dressy. You could even tone it down a bit with some flat sandals.
